The 2015/16 season was the best our firsts have had, finishing it by winning the Scottish 1A division for the third year in a row. On top of this, our girls’ team managed to get promoted to the Premiership league for the first time after close play-off matches against Newcastle and Durham. The guys’ team narrowly missed out on a place in the Premiership after it came down to points but are hopeful of another successful session in the top Scottish league. It was also a great year for us in the BUCS trophy with the guys’ team reaching the semi-finals, unfortunately losing in a very close match against Glasgow and the girls just losing out in the finals against Oxford. Players from both teams travelled down to play in the BUCS individual championships in Sheffield where we had great success with both Jacob Reynolds and Britt Ashton reaching the final 16 in singles. The team’s success didn’t finish there as we had a great weekend in Glasgow for the Scottish University championships. Hannah and Sophie Morrison won the women’s doubles, beating another EUBC pair in the finals. Finally, a huge thank you goes out to Wilgene Tan, Joanna Shepherd and Stewart Ferns, who all graduated this year but have been a big part of our team’s success over their four years in EUBC.
