EUBC 1

Our first team has gotten off to a great start this season. Straight away in the Lothian League the 1st mens team had to play our own 2nd mens which ended in a 14-4 win to the 1sts. This was seen as a good match and comments were that the new pairings for the first team were looking really strong.

On Saturday the 11th of October our 1st team then took on Stirling in the Scottish 1A. This ended in a win for Edinburgh of 10-2, a strong performance all round with Edinburgh being dominant. Special mention to Stewart Ferns and the Morrisons who managed to win some tough 3 set matches.

The 2nd team has had a great start to the season as well with their BUCS matches. On the 4th of October they took on Edinburgh Napier’s 1st team to start their Scottish 3A campaign. This resulted in a fantastic 11-1 victory. Comments from the captains were that it was a solid performance all round but would like to mention Jack Tregelass as the stand out player as he had a close singles match and came out top after 3 sets.

The following weekend on the 11th, the 2nds had a Cup Pool 3 match against Robert Gordon 1st. This again ended in another good result winning 9-3. Although results weren’t going our way at the start, Edinburgh brought it back. A mention to Richard Perry and Jack Tregelass in the doubles who fought a tough 3 set match losing the first 20-22, but then brought it back with a 21-18 and a 21-17 win.

Video highlights of this match will be available soon on the club’s YouTube channel.

EUBC 3

The 3rd team played their first Scottish 4A match on the 4th against Robert Gordon 1st and won a closely fought match 7-5. The men had tough opposition with most of their matches going to 3 sets, but in the end Edinburgh came out with the win.

The next weekend they had their cup pool 1 match against Glasgow 2nd. This proved to be a difficult match and resulted in a 2-10 loss. Glasgow’s team proved stronger than predicted but Edinburgh’s players put up a good fight but was just not enough in the end. With Glasgow’s 2nd team also in the same league the captains will be looking for some pay back when this league fixture comes up in the future.

EUBC 4-6

The 4th mixed team had their first match of the season in the Lothian where they lost 13-5 to the 3rds mixed team.

The 5th mixed team had their first ever Lothian League match but sadly lost all their games. However as the games went on scoring improved. As this is a new team not a lot is expected but we hope as the season progresses, so will all the new players and eventually the results will start coming in.

More results for the 4th, 5th and 6th team will follow in later weeks as most teams have not played their first match yet.
