On Saturday the 28th of January ten members from EUBC, mostly consisting of social badminton players, volunteered at the LDBC – SDS Disability Badminton Championships. Throughout the event the volunteers helped with score keeping, umpiring, aiding competitors with learning difficulties and general housekeeping within the hall. The tournament was run in partnership with Scottish Disability Sport and was a sanctioned Special Olympic event, acting as a stepping stone for the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.
Our club members thoroughly enjoyed the day and were very impressed by the high quality of badminton displayed.
Special thanks to LDBC (Lothian Disability Badminton Club), Rosalind Hall (tournament referee), Lyndon Williams for helping to organise the event and thanks to our committee member Tommy Reynolds (Club Captain) for getting EUBC involved with this event.
