The annual Edinburgh Malaysian Games, organized by the Edinburgh Malaysian Students’ Association was held last weekend (October, 19th) at the Meadowbank Sports Centre. Three different sports were represented; basketball, dodgeball and badminton, which we of course contested to the best of the three: badminton!
EUBC players took part in 3 of the 4 disciplines of badminton (WS, MD, XD), the women’s doubles having been cancelled.
All standards were represented during the day, and while some games were more social, others saw both players and spectators enjoy close matches that could have gone either way.
As the 10 courts of the hall were booked for the whole day, players enjoyed badminton between games. The tournament also offered the opportunity to play with high-level Yonex Aerosensa 50 shuttles, an enjoyable experience for all players.
Despite the Edinburgh University Badminton Club not being as well represented as in previous years, we still performed well, with the following results:

Women’s singles:
1st Erica Chau
2nd Emma Batchen
